PART 1 

Meet the Presenter: 

Mark Matta, D.O.

CEO, Psych Med Associates

Medical Director, Magellan Health 

Mark Matta, D.O. is a native of New Castle and is a graduate of Neshannock High School. He attended Allegheny College and received his bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience with a dual minor in Classical History and Chemistry. After graduating from Allegheny, he went on to attend the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Matta completed his residency in adult psychiatry at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Upon completion of the residency program, Dr. Matta joined his father, Shoukry Matta, M.D., in private practice at Psych Med Associates in 2007. He successfully completed and received his board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in 2008 and remains board certified to this day.  Presently, Dr. M. Matta is the CEO of Psych Med Associates, P.C. He is also the medical director of Magellan Health in Cambria County and is on staff at Sharon Regional Hospital.   

Presentation:  Anxiety- The Silent Bully

Participants will 

  • Understand what anxiety is and how it is manifested in children/adolescents 
  • Learn how to identify potential signs and triggers of anxiety 
  • Know how to help alleviate anxiety in youth 

Meet the Presenter: 

Joseph Farris, MD

Belmont Pines Hospital

Associate Medical Director

Joseph Farris, MD is native of Youngstown and a graduate of Poland Seminary High School.  He attended John Carroll University and received a BS in Biology.  Upon graduation from college Dr. Farris attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he received his Doctorate of Medicine.  Dr. Farris completed his residency in adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  He completed and received board certification in psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry in 2008 from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and has continued to maintain this status.  He has been employed at Belmont Pines since 2006 and is currently the Associate Medical Director.

Participants will:

  • Understand the role of adults in modeling appropriate anxiety control to children
  • Be able to discuss anxiety from personal experiences with children 

PART 2

Questions to be asked by moderators 

Sample questions: 

  • What will some of the post COVID-19 issues be and how should they be addressed? 
  • What are symptoms of stress in children and teens and how should it be addressed? 
  • What causes anxiety disorders? 
  • Anxiety among staff members and what should administrators know and do? 
  • How can anxiety disorders be prevented or can they? 
  • Will children be psychologically affected more than adults by the pandemic of COVID-19?
